About Us

Caregivers of the Carolinas is a home help agency based in Upstate South Carolina. We provide an array of senior adult assistance services that allow seniors to continue living in their own homes while receiving the care required to maintain their independence.

Owners Jim DeWitt and Wendell Reynolds have degrees in health administration and a combined 14 years of experience in the healthcare field in Upstate South Carolina, including administrative positions in a local hospital and assisted living homes.

During the course of their work, Jim and Wendell became aware of the need for a quality care provider for those seniors in the community who wished to stay in their own homes. As a result, they launched Caregivers of the Carolinas, an agency of outstanding caregivers who can provide help with activities of daily living that may be necessary as a person ages.

These activities could include bathing, grooming, medical reminders, physical therapy and occupational therapy, as well as providing company and companionship when families are not available.

In addition, because their senior care experiences all come from the Upstate area, Wendell and Jim are well-acquainted with the resources and medical services available to seniors in the area.

Jim DeWitt

Jim has lived and worked in Upstate South Carolina for 14 years, and is actively involved in the local community.

For the last nine years, Jim served as executive director for a Simpsonville assisted living home, where he created such a warm and enjoyable environment that the facility remained full — with a waiting list — during his entire tenure. Jim has also worked at Oconee Memorial Hospital as an administrator in training.

He has a master's degree in health administration from a joint program of Clemson University and Medical University of South Carolina, and holds an MBA from the University of Northern Colorado.

Jim is an active member of the Simpsonville Rotary Club, the Simpsonville Chamber of Commerce, and Advent United Methodist Church. He and his wife Melanie have two grown daughters, Hillary and Whitney.

Wendell Reynolds

Wendell has been involved in the senior care field for four years, serving as the director of resident care at a local assisted living home. In that role, he coordinated the care needs of seniors moving to assisted living and managed a staff of 35 caregivers. He has also served in a healthcare administration internship at Hillcrest Hospital, and has an acute understanding of the needs of seniors in our community.

Wendell earned a bachelor's degree in allied health sciences with a focus on health administration from Clemson University. His management experience also includes several years in the retail industry.

Wendell and his wife live in Simpsonville with their infant son. They are active members of Grace Church in Greenville.
